Your financial data belongs to you. We collect what we need to run Know Your Dosh: your account details, the financial information you connect or enter, and how you use the app. Bank connections happen through Moneyhub’s regulated open banking service, and we never see your bank login. We don’t sell your data. When you close your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days. You’re in control, and this policy explains exactly how.
Know Your Dosh Ltd (“Know Your Dosh”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is the controller of your personal data. We are a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13446892), with our registered office in Slough, England, SL3 7GY, and we are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under registration number ZB323476.
For anything related to your personal data, contact us at [email protected].
This policy covers the knowyourdosh.com website, our mobile applications, and every service we provide through them (the “Service”).
Identity and contact data. Your name, email address, and the details you give us when you register or contact us.
Account data. Your subscription plan, preferences, settings, and payment status. Card payments are processed by Stripe, and app-store payments by Apple or Google. We do not store your full card details.
Financial data. The heart of the Service, collected only so we can show it back to you: bank account details, balances, and transactions you connect through open banking; property details and estimated valuations; pension and investment information; and any assets, liabilities, budgets, or renewals you enter yourself. Bank connections are made through Moneyhub Financial Technology Ltd, an FCA-regulated open banking provider. You authorise each connection directly with your bank, and we never see or store your bank login credentials.
Family data. Names, relationships, and financial information of family members you choose to add. Before adding someone, make sure you have their permission or, for a child, that you are their parent or guardian.
Device and usage data. IP address, device type, operating system, app version, and how you use the Service, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy).
UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for everything we do with your personal data. Here is what we do and why we are allowed to do it:
What we do
Lawful basis
Create and run your account, provide the features you subscribe to, take payment, and provide support
Performance of our contract with you

Your explicit consent, given each time you authorise a connection: you can withdraw it at any time by disconnecting the account
Keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and misuse, and fix problems
Our legitimate interest in running a safe, reliable service
Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it (analytics)
Your consent, given through our cookie banner
Send you marketing about our own products, and measure our advertising
Your consent: you can opt out at any time
Comply with legal obligations, including tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements
Legal obligation
We will not use your personal data for any other purpose without telling you first and, where the law requires it, asking for your consent. We do not use your financial data to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we do not sell your personal data.
We only send you marketing emails if you have opted in, and every email includes an unsubscribe link. Our website uses advertising tools from Meta (Facebook) and Google to measure our campaigns and reach people who may be interested in Know Your Dosh. These only run if you accept advertising cookies in our cookie banner. We never share the contents of your financial data with advertisers.
If you register for one of our events or webinars, we will tell you at the point of registration whether a partner is involved and what they will receive. We only share your details with an event partner if you agree to it at registration, never automatically.
We share personal data only with parties who help us provide the Service, and only what they need:
All third parties are required to use your data only for the purpose it was shared, to protect it, and not to keep it longer than needed.
Know Your Dosh is used by families in around 38 countries, and your data is hosted in the United Kingdom. Where a service provider processes data outside the UK, we make sure the transfer is protected: either the destination country has a UK adequacy decision, or we use safeguards approved under UK law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK addendum. You can ask us for details of the safeguards we use at [email protected].
We keep your personal data while your account is active. When you close your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep specific records for longer. For example, transaction and accounting records we must keep for up to six years for tax and regulatory purposes. Anonymised, aggregated data that can no longer identify you may be retained for statistical purposes.
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. Bank connections use open banking, which means read-only access authorised by you and no sharing of your bank credentials. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but if a breach ever puts your rights at risk, we will notify you and the ICO as the law requires. Read more on our Security & Trust page.
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within one month. Exercising your rights is free.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we would welcome the chance to resolve your concern first.
The Service is for people aged 16 and over, and we do not knowingly collect personal data directly from anyone under 16. Family features may include information about children, but it is entered and controlled by their parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy, which also explains how to manage your preferences.
We may update this policy from time to time. If a change materially affects how we use your personal data, we will notify you by email or in-app message before it takes effect. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
